Choosing where to stay

Wind & Wave Villas vs Conch, side by side

Aegean style pool suites built for two, or whole villas with outdoor pools for a family or a group. What each one offers, and who it suits.

Facts checked 20 October 2026

Conch Luxury Private Pool Suites and our villas both promise the same thing at first glance: a pool you do not have to share. That is where the likeness ends. Conch is a set of suites designed for couples, each with an indoor pool, breakfast and celebration packages. We are a gated beach property of whole villas, where the larger ones have an outdoor pool, three bedrooms and room for ten.

Neither is better in every case. A honeymoon and a family reunion need very different things, and the right choice depends on who is coming. Below we set out what each place offers, compare location, pools and privacy, and say plainly who should book which.

What does Conch offer?

Conch Luxury Private Pool Suites sits on Old Auroville Road at Bommayapalayam, about 70 m off the East Coast Road. The look is Greek and Aegean, with white walls and blue accents that feel quite different from anything else on this coast.

The defining feature is that each suite has its own private indoor pool. You step from the bedroom into the water without being seen by anyone, at any hour and in any weather. Breakfast is included, and there is a restaurant on site.

Conch leans firmly towards couples. It offers honeymoon decoration, candlelight dinners and celebration packages for birthdays and anniversaries, so a special occasion can be arranged for you rather than by you.

What do our villas offer?

We have 21 villas and stays on one gated coastal property at Chettikuppam. The five 3BHK villas, Villas 15 to 19, each have a private outdoor swimming pool, three bedrooms, three bathrooms, five queen beds and two living rooms looking onto the pool. Each sleeps up to 10 and comes with a kitchen, a dedicated workspace and a projector or home theatre.

There are also eight 2BHK Luxury Stays for up to 6 guests, with a home theatre and a common pool, and 2BHK villas 09 to 14 for up to 4 guests, sharing a pool. Villa No 2 has a sea facing terrace and sleeps up to 8, and Villas 2 and 5 welcome pets.

Every unit has air conditioning and fans, generator backup, wifi, an outdoor shower and free parking inside the gate. Check-in is self service and food can be arranged. We have no spa or on-site restaurant, and we do not run honeymoon packages, so the stay is more independent than at Conch.

How do the locations compare?

Conch is close to the action. Being just off the ECR on Old Auroville Road puts it within easy reach of Auroville, Kottakuppam's cafes and Pondicherry town, which is handy for couples who want to go out for meals and sights.

We are further up the coast in a quiet gated community at Chettikuppam. The beach is a 700 m walk and far less crowded than the stretches nearer town, and Pondicherry and Auroville are each about a 30 minute drive. For families and groups who plan to spend most of the day at the villa and the beach, that calm is the point.

To compare the beaches themselves, see our guide to beaches near Pondicherry.

Pools and privacy compared

Both offer a truly private pool, but of different kinds. Conch's pools are indoors, inside each suite. That means shade, privacy from every direction and a swim that is never cut short by midday sun or rain. They suit two people who want to float and relax.

Our 3BHK pools are outdoors, with two living rooms opening onto the water. There is room for children to splash while adults sit by the edge, and for a group to gather around the pool in the evening with a film on the projector. The space around the pool, not only the pool, is what a family uses.

In privacy terms, Conch gives a couple a sealed suite. We give a group a whole house, with its own kitchen, living rooms and gate access, so nobody else shares your space.

Groups, families and couples: which suits whom?

For a honeymoon couple, Conch is the better pick, and we are happy to say so. Breakfast is included, the suites are designed for two, and honeymoon decoration and candlelight dinners can be arranged on the spot. If you want everything done for you, Conch fits.

For families, groups of friends and anyone travelling with more than two people, our villas are the stronger choice. A 3BHK villa sleeps up to 10 with three bathrooms, a kitchen and a private pool, and with 21 stays on one property, extended families, wedding parties and offsites can book several together. Couples who want more space, a kitchen, a home theatre or to bring a pet will also find more room with us.

Frequently asked questions

Is Conch or Wind & Wave better for a honeymoon?

An indoor pool, like those at Conch, sits inside the suite, so it is shaded, fully private and usable in any weather.
